Amendent B

We voted yesterday on Amendment B which at its core is about the ordination of gays and lesbians.   This is a deeply divisive issue in the Presbyterian Churh USA.  To vote yes or no was a vote to hurt someone.  I wonder what it would have looked like if we as New Hope Presbytery had said “we don’t want to hurt anyone,” and we refused to vote at all.  Saying to General Assembly work harder at trying to keep us together.   Find us a place where we can agree and have unity.  What would that have looked like?   What would our witness have been?
