Easter Breakfast @ the Soup Kitchen

The Easter Breakfast at the soup kitchen was extraordinary.   It was one of those fish and loaves stories where the generosity of the church was overwhelming and the food that morning seem to feed a lot more than it should have.   In fact I imagine that the leftovers will be used at a few more meals!

There was more than feeding the hungry going on that morning.  I believe eyes were opened to the simple-ness of the missional lifestyle.  I think we found it easy to talk with and serve those who are different.   I also think we saw our weaknesses and decided it was OK, because there was a place for everyone to serve and minister.  I think we believed God was there and that God has always been there.  I think we felt the invitation of God to be a part of what He was doing.

Hopefully this experience will be a catalyst for everyone to engage further into being the church wherever we are.   Remember that the missional church sees God at work everywhere in the world not just in ministry environments like the soup kitchen.  That same simple-ness and opportunity we found at the soup kitchen is there wherever we are, because God is already at work there and everywhere.
